The race for the White House each fall usually comes down to a handful of states as the candidates try to reach 270 electoral votes. At the top of the swingstate list are Florida and Ohio. A new NBC poll shows in hypothetical between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, Clinton dominates in both states.

In Florida, Clinton beats Trump by eight points among all registered voters, 49 percent to 41 percent.

In Ohio, Clinton is ahead of Trump by six points, 48 percent to 42 percent.

No Republican in history has ever won the presidency without winning Ohio. Barack Obama carried it in 2008 and 2012. The Buckeye State went for George W Bush in 2004, determining the outcome.
