Over half the states have now held their primaries and caucuses and when the popular votes are added up, Hillary Clinton leads Bernie Sanders in the Democratic race by over 2.7 million votes. For the GOP, Donald Trump is leading his closest competitor by just over 2 million.

NOTE: While Clinton leads Trump in overall popular votes, she has only faced one serious competitor while Trump has battled multiple challengers. Republican turnout thus far has also been much higher.
