I predicted here several days ago that Marco Rubio could soon announce he’s skipping the GOP convention in Cleveland to instead concentrate on a third party run this fall.
Now we know, thanks to Politico, that top conservatives will be meeting Thursday in Washington to discuss how to organize a third party alternative.
“The organizers of the meeting include Bill Wichterman, who was President George W. Bush’s liaison to the conservative movement, Bob Fischer, a South Dakota businessman and longtime conservative convener, and Erick Erickson, the outspoken Trump opponent and conservative activist who founded RedState.com.”
I’ve said it before, there is no way all conservatives jump on board the Trump bandwagon, he has way too much baggage. From his multiple divorces, to changing social views on issues like abortion, to his loud and obnoxious campaign style. There will be a conservative alternative, the question is whether that name will be on all 50 state ballots.
