President Obama has seen the new season of Game of Thrones.
Let that sink in a minute.
While the rest of the planet wonders what happened to Jon Snow, Obama already knows. (If you don’t watch this show you have no idea how what a big deal this is!)
Apparently not being able to wait along with the rest of us, the most powerful man on earth picked up the red phone and called creators Dan Weiss and David Benioff and “strongly requested” the new season.
“He’s the leader of the free world,” Weiss told Entertainment Weekly. “I think, for both of us, finding out the president wanted advance copies of the episodes was an ‘aha’ moment. That was a very strange moment.”
Obama is the only person outside of HBO who has seen advance screenings of new episodes which premiere on Saturday.
Fans of the show have gone a bit crazy.

It’s not just the fans, but now reporters, who are not taking this lying down.
Vanessa Golembewski of the website “refinery29” has filed a Freedom of Information Act request contending Obama must have watched a digital copy. In that case, the media, and the American people, have a right to see it.
“If the president — and by extension, our government — is in possession of a file, surely that file is subject to my request to see it as a U.S. citizen,” said Golembewski.
She also says she wants the government to hand over the file prior to Saturday night.
“There was also a field that asked me if I’d like this request to be expedited,” said Golembewski. “According to the guidelines, you should only select ‘yes’ if it’s a timely, life-threatening matter. And while I am not in any physical danger myself, I thought about how Jon Snow’s life is very much in question and decided that was close enough.”
Obama has been a big fan of the show for years:

Season six is easily the most eagerly anticipated season and by all accounts will be epic. The series has finally caught up with the books, written by George R R Martin.
If we get a copy, I’ll let you know.
