Say this about New Yorkers: They love their own. And Donald Trump is about as New York as it gets.
A new Monmouth University Poll shows him on the verge of a electoral tsunami in his home state on April 19th.
He currently has the support of 52 percent of likely GOP primary voters. If that holds, he could sweep the states 95 delegates and move significantly closer to the 1,237 he needs to clinch the nomination.
John Kasich is way back with 25 percent. Ted Cruz, who continues to ridicule “New York values” has 17 percent.
Trump is holding over half of likely GOP voters in New York City and Long Island. He also has 52 percent in Upstate New York.
“If this result holds in every single congressional district, Trump will walk away with nearly all of New York State’s delegates,” said Patrick Murray, director of the independent Monmouth University Polling Institute.
The only negative for Trump is that three of ten New York Republicans say they would not vote for him in November.
“There is almost no probability that any Republican would be able to win New York’s electoral votes,” said Murray.
