The always colorful conservative New York Post endorsed Donald Trump in the race for the upcoming New York Republican presidential primary, but it wasn’t exactly a glowing feel-good stamp of approval.

Calling Trump a “rookie” and an “imperfect messenger” the Post listed several major positions that they say Trump has “made on the fly.”

  • Pulling US troops out of Japan and South Korea — and pushing both countries to go nuclear to defend themselves — is not remotely a good idea.
  • “Build the Wall” is far too simplistic a policy for a nation of immigrants.
  • Remember that trade means cheaper goods for the less well-off, and challenge US industries to improve.
  • Trump’s language has too often been amateurish, divisive — and downright coarse.

Yet despite all of this, the Post concludes that “if” Trump can pivot his campaign and become “better informed on policy, more self-disciplined and less thin-skinned” he will have “the skills, the know-how, the values” to make America great again.

And if a panda can learn to do back flips over six Siberian tigers I suppose we’ll make the circus great again too.

It’s possible.
