“This is not my party.”

So says conservative commentator George Will, one of the most popular syndicated columnists in the country.

While he has defended Republican presidents for decades, through the highs of the Reagan era to the lows of defending George W. Bush and the unpopular Iraq war, Will says he has re-registered as “non affiliated” due to Donald Trump.

“President Trump with no opposition from a Republican-led Congress would be worse than a Hillary Clinton presidency with a Republican-led Congress,” Will told an audience at the conservative Federalist Society. “Make sure Trump loses. Grit your teeth for four years and win the White House in 2020.”

Will, a Pulitzer-Prize winning columnist and Fox News contributor, has been critical of Trump for months. He has warned that Trump’s damage to the GOP had only just begun, and that he would be the “most unpopular nominee ever’’ losing support from women, minorities and young voters.

Trump has called Will a “major loser.” Will joins a growing list of conservatives and Republicans who say they will not back Trump in November.
