After months of saying he wasn’t, Senator Marco Rubio announced today he has changed his mind and is running for reelection because, gosh darn it, Florida just can’t live without him.
Or, more likely, he wants to run for president again as a sitting senator rather than a private citizen.
Forget the fact Rubio has the worst attendance record in the senate and clearly doesn’t love his job. This is yet another astounding political flip flop.
Rubio is watching the polls in Florida closely and knows Donald Trump is slipping behind Hillary Clinton. So Rubio made it clear today the Republican nominee for president will be on his own in the state come November.
“It’s not that I’m looking to undermine him, but I think the differences between us on key issues are so significant that I just don’t plan to campaign for him, I’ve got to run my own race,” Rubio told CNN.
That’s probably okay with Trump who regularly called him “little Marco” during the primary campaign.
