This election year has been nothing but a circus, so it didn’t even strike anyone as unusual this afternoon watching a 20 year old man scaling the glass facade of Trump Tower in Midtown Manhattan using large suction cups.
It was actually like watching an Amazing Race stunt and kind of fun to watch. It did make you wonder, however, how Trump is going to build a big enough wall on the Mexican border when his 58 story building is so easily scaled?
After three hours the man made it to the 21st floor where police officers grabbed him and hauled him to safety.
The climber posted a Youtube video last night, under the name “Leven Thumps,” explaining that he was climbing the building to get Trump’s attention.
“Believe me, if my purpose was not significant, I would not risk my life pursuing it,” the man said while standing up and wearing a hoodie. “The reason I climbed your tower was to get your attention. If I sought this via conventional means, I would be much less likely to have success because you are a busy man with many responsibilities.”
At the end of the message, the man encourages everyone to vote for Trump in November.
No one knows what he wanted to tell Trump.
The name “Leven Thumps” comes from a popular fantasy-adventure series by Obert Skye.
The plot includes a pervasive threat to the dreams of humans. In one book, the US president addresses the nation on television, announcing a state of global emergency in which fields and buildings become sentient and turn on humans.
With that in mind, police took the man to a mental hospital for a psychological evaluation. He has yet to be charged.
