Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani says Hillary Clinton is “too stupid” to be president because she did not divorce her husband, former president Bill Clinton.
“The president of the United States, her husband, disgraced this country with what he did in the Oval Office and she didn’t just stand by him, she attacked Monica Lewinsky,” said Guiliani. “And after being married to Bill Clinton for 20 years, if you didn’t know the moment Monica Lewinsky said that Bill Clinton violated her that she was telling the truth, then you’re too stupid to be president.”
Giuliani, who once quit an expected campaign against Hillary Clinton for a U.S. senate seat in New York, called Trump a “feminist” because of how he treats the women he employs, and said he would have responded to Clinton’s attacks much more harshly than the GOP nominee did.
Clinton admitted in 1998 that he had an improper relationship with Lewinsky after the Republican-controlled House impeached him for lying about it under oath. Hillary Clinton decided not to leave her husband and instead moved to New York to successfully seek a U.S. senate seat.
Giuliani himself has been married three times. His former wife, Donna Hanover, filed for divorce in 2002 citing adultery. His teenage son Andrew supported his mother during the bitter and public divorce, and did not support Giuliani’s bid for the White House in 2008.
Trump, who had a tough time against Clinton in the debate Monday night, says may bring up Bill Clinton’s adultery in their next showdown. His campaign strategists, however, may have him think again considering white women in battleground states are likely going to determine his political fate.
