On the day Donald Trump’s son Eric told a reporter his dad “started with nothing” (Trump actually grew up in one of the wealthiest families in New York and was given a million dollars from his dad to start his business) the greatest living performer on earth called the billionaire reality TV host “a moron.”

“Well, you know, the republic is under siege by a moron, basically,” Bruce Springsteen told Rolling Stone. “The whole thing is tragic. Without overstating it, it’s a tragedy for our democracy.”

Springsteen, known worldwide as The Boss, said comments made by the Trump this past year would have sunk the chances of any other candidate.

“The ideas he’s moving to the mainstream are all very dangerous ideas – white nationalism and the alt-right movement,” said Springsteen. “The outrageous things that he’s done – not immediately disavowing David Duke? These are things that are obviously beyond the pale for any previous political candidate. It would sink your candidacy immediately.”

The Boss, who has won 20 Grammy Awards and been inducted into both the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, said his political opinions only go so far with his fans.boss-trump-2-2

“I don’t think people go to musicians for their political points of view,” admitted Springsteen. “I think your political point of view is circumstances and then how you were nurtured and brought up. But it’s worth giving a shot when it’s the only thing you have.”

He also has announced he’s backing Hillary Clinton.

“I like Hillary. I think she would be a very, very good president,” said Springsteen.

The Boss is not alone. An unprecedented number of Republicans have announced they are not backing Trump. Earlier today the conservative editorial board of the Cincinnati Enquirer, which has not supported a Democratic nominee in 100 years, called Trump “a clear and present danger” and endorsed Clinton.
