Nearly seven out of ten registered voters in 2016 are white, and they are deeply split between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton based on their education levels.

A new CNN poll from two key battleground states finds overall Trump and Clinton are tied.

In Colorado, Trump leads 42 percent to 41 percent. In Pennsylvania, Clinton leads 45 percent to 44 percent.

Both states are within the margin of error.

What is most fascinating is how the white support of both candidates severely splits based on how much school they’ve attended.

White college graduates choose Clinton over Trump by 11 points in Pennsylvania and 16 points in Colorado.

Whites who do not hold four-year degrees break in Trump’s favor by 19 points in Pennsylvania and 22 points in Colorado.

Think of that for a second.

A billionaire reality TV host, who lives in a gold tower in New York City, has managed to convince less educated whites that he understands them and is on their side.

Meanwhile, more educated white voters think Trump is unprepared to hold the nuclear launch codes, and does not have the temperament to lead the nation.

That is an amazing split between education levels.

The best news for Trump is that his white supporters are more enthusiastic to head to the polls and vote for him. That, combined with a lack of enthusiasm among millennials, Hispanics and African Americans, could doom Clinton in battleground states on election day.
