The Daily Pennsylvanian and Wellesley News — the student newspapers of Donald Trump’s and Hillary Clinton’s alma maters, respectively — have officially endorsed Clinton for president.

In a joint editorial the papers said Trump “failed to dignify the morals of his institution.”

“Though Clinton embodies her alma mater’s institutional values, Trump does not,” said the editorial. “It is clear that Trump has failed to dignify the morals of his institution. Penn’s motto, ‘Leges sine moribus vanae,’ translates as ‘Laws without morals are useless.’ In evaluating Donald Trump through this context, the Opinion Board cannot say that his actions attest to his morals: He does not embody the spirit of the school.”

Trump graduated from the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce at the University of Pennsylvania in May 1968.

In a July speech in Phoenix, Trump said about his alma mater, “I went to the Wharton School of Finance, I’m, like, a really smart person.” But that argument was not enough for the student board members.

“Donald Trump has, in the past, brought up his education at the Wharton School to qualify his intelligence and capability; however, overall campus sentiment toward Trump remains negative, and he has been protested both at Penn’s campus and in the wider Penn community,” the editorial argued.

The Daily Pennsylvanian went on to explain how Clinton embodies the values of Wellesley College through her work with the Children’s Defense Fund and on women’s rights.

“Comparatively, Hillary Clinton, time and time again, has embodied pragmatic leadership and service and, more importantly, the desire and capacity to both listen and respond to the needs of a diverse society,” said the editorial.

Clinton majored in political science and graduated from Wellesley College in 1969.

“While the Wellesley News has endorsed its alumna, Hillary Clinton, The Daily Pennsylvanian can not stand behind Donald Trump as a candidate,” the editorial said.
