Actor Chris Evans is no fan of President Trump, regularly mocking him on social media and calling him “Biff.”

Following the dramatic testimony of Christine Blasey Ford this week, Evans tweeted out this zinger, asking why Trump is being given a free pass for the nearly two dozen sexual assault charges against him:

“You know what’s insane? If a recording came out today of Kavanaugh, not from high school, or even college, but from just a few years ago, where he said he could ‘grab women by the pussy’, he would be DONE. Why is the president of the United States held to a different standard?

Evans is referring to when Trump bragged in vulgar terms about kissing, groping and attempting to seduce married women in a 2005 interview with entertainment reporter Billy Bush.

In the Access Hollywood tape you can hear the nearly 60 year old Trump say about women:

“I’m automatically attracted to beautiful women, I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything.”

Despite the tape, Trump still managed to win the election.

Since then, Evans has been no stranger to tweeting out opposition to Trump.

On election night 2016, he wrote:

“This is an embarrassing night for America. We’ve let a hatemonger lead our great nation. We’ve let a bully set our course. I’m devastated.”

Evans, 37, has played the iconic superhero Captain America since 2011. And he is not shy about why he speaks out.

“Look, I’m in a business where you’ve got to sell tickets,” he told Esquire. “But, my God, I would not be able to look at myself in the mirror if I felt strongly about something and didn’t speak up. I think it’s about how you speak up. We’re allowed to disagree. If I state my case and people don’t want to go see my movies as a result, I’m okay with that.”

“Some people say, ‘Don’t you see what’s happening? It’s time to yell,’ ” Evans continued. “Yeah, I see it, and it’s time for calm. Because not everyone who voted for Trump is going to be some horrible bigot. There are a lot of people in that middle; those are the people you can’t lose your credibility with. If you’re trying to change minds, by spewing too much rhetoric you can easily become white noise.”

Politics runs in his family. Evans uncle, Rep. Mike Capuano (D-MA), was recently defeated in the Democratic primary by Ayanna Pressley, considered a rising star in progressive politics.

As to why Trump is held to a different standard than many other men who have been forced to resign when sexual assault allegations have come to light, maybe only historians will be able to figure that out.
