Is Julie Chen about to be evicted from The Talk?
Yes, according to Page Six.
“Page Six has learned that Julie Chen is walking away from “The Talk.” In the wake of Les Moonves’ firing, a source says the former CBS mogul’s wife is going to resign.”
“I’m told she’s going to resign and step down from The Talk,” said reporter Carlos Greer. “It’s unclear whether it was Chen’s decision, or whether CBS asked her to step down. What is clear is that she’s sticking by her husband Les Moonves, and not leaving him.”
CBS has not commented on Chen, however they did confirm that Moonves had not been extended any tickets for tonight’s Emmy Awards, even though CBS has numerous nominations.
Everyone in-and-around television is talking about Chen and Moonves today, except those on The Talk.
The stars of the show, for the second week, could not, or would not, talk about the biggest talker of all: Chen and her future at the network.
This puts the credibility of the show — which often moralizes and places judgement on those who work in Hollywood — in serious jeopardy.
Chen announced September 10, she “was taking a few days off” from The Talk to be with her family, the day after her husband was ousted as chairman and CEO of CBS amid another wave of sexual misconduct allegations.
The “few days” off has turned into a week, with news today of Chen’s likely resignation.
There has been speculation that Chen will leave CBS immediately following the season finale of Big Brother.
Julie Chen remains one of the best broadcasters of modern times. Before she took the advice of Moonves and headed to the entertainment division, she was the highly qualified and credible anchor of the CBS Morning News. She is one of the best interviewers on television.
But her time at CBS, so tightly linked to her husband the past two decades, seems to be coming to an end.
