Sen. John McCain was honored during the In Memoriam segment of the Emmy Awards.

McCain, who died at the age of 81 in August after a yearlong battle with brain cancer, was the subject of HBO documentary John McCain: For Whom the Bell Tolls this year.

But although the In Memoriam montage listed him as a “politician” only, the late US senator had a few acting credits to his name.

He played himself in a couple of episodes of NBC sitcom Parks & Recreation and also had a small role on Fox’s 24.

McCain also had an uncredited role in Wedding Crashers, and a memorable appearance as host of Saturday Night Live.

His book, Faith of My Fathers, was turned into a movie that aired on the A&E network in 2005.
