He uses a teleprompter for his speeches just like his predecessor, Barack Obama, always did.
Still, somehow, President Trump, who once referred to a nonexistent African country named Nambia, told an audience yesterday that he spoke to the “president of the Virgin Islands.”
You just can’t make this stuff up.
“I will tell you I left Texas and I left Florida and I left Louisiana and I went to Puerto Rico and I met with the president of the Virgin Islands,” Trump said while talking about the recovery efforts in those areas following Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
Of course, because the Virgin Islands is a U.S. territory, Trump is its president.
So, maybe, he meant that he had been in the Oval Office meeting with himself?
The latest “covfefe” moment occurred during Trump’s speech at the Values Voter Summit in Washington. Of course, the person Trump was most likely referring to was Kenneth Mapp, the governor of the U.S. Virgin Islands, whom he met with 10 days ago.
That said, it’s still entirely possible that the President had a conversation with himself while he was visiting the Virgin Islands.
Snarky Twitter remarks quickly followed the gaffe.
