Summer Zervos is proving her lawsuit against Donald Trump, who is accused of groping her, is no “fishing expedition.”
Zervos, who appeared on season five of The Apprentice and is now suing Donald Trump for defaming her when denying a sexual assault, continues her push for documents about the president’s illicit sexual misconduct towards other women.
After being given the green light by a judge to move to discovery in her case, Zervos has submitted a motion to compel information from Trump. In August, her attorney Mariann Wang reported to the judge that Trump was refusing to turn over responsive documents.
Trump’s lawyer Marc Kasowitz, in opposition, has warned that the case could turn into 21 mini-trials and argued that the information about illicit sexual conduct towards other women amounts to “propensity evidence,” an inadmissible testing of his character.
Speaking of what’s been happening in discovery, perhaps the most intriguing portion of the brief filed Wednesday is a redacted bit that at least makes clear that Trump’s campaign has already produced documents that Zervos’ side finds suggestive and indicative that “this is no fishing expedition.”
Zervos filed suit in January 2017, alleging that Trump falsely branded Zervos a liar after she made her accusations against him public, calling her story “totally made up nonsense.”
Zervos is seeking a retraction plus unspecified damages.
“Ms. Zervos was ambushed by Mr. Trump on more than one occasion. Mr. Trump suddenly, and without her consent, kissed her on the mouth repeatedly, he touched her breast, and he pressed his genitals up against her,” the lawsuit reads. “Ms. Zervos never consented to any of this disgusting touching. Instead, she repeatedly expressed that he should stop his inappropriate sexual behavior, including by shoving him away from her forcefully and telling him to ‘get real.’ Mr. Trump did not care, he kept touching her anyway.”
