Six days to go until the critical midterm election, and President Trump is spitting at House Speaker Paul Ryan, a fellow Republican, on Twitter.
Trump shot back at Ryan for criticizing his proposal to upend birthright citizenship, saying Ryan should be paying attention to the midterm elections instead.
“Paul Ryan should be focusing on holding the Majority rather than giving his opinions on Birthright Citizenship, something he knows nothing about! Our new Republican Majority will work on this, Closing the Immigration Loopholes and Securing our Border!” Trump tweeted today.

Ryan had told Kentucky talk radio station WVLK yesterday that Trump “obviously cannot do that,” joining a bevy of constitutional scholars who challenged Trump on using an executive order to eliminate birthright citizenship for the children of undocumented immigrants on U.S. soil.
George Conway, another conservative and husband of White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, also slammed Trump in an op-ed last night.
The Twitter dispute comes with polls showing Democrats likely to win a majority of seats in the House on Tuesday.
Trump has been frantically searching for issues to motivate his base to get out the vote. Besides birthright citizenship, he has attempted to generate fear, proclaiming “an invasion” is on its way to the border.
He also is claiming that Republicans will do a better job protecting people with pre-existing medical conditions, even though that is a key provision of Obamacare which he has spent two years attempting to dismantle.
