Mixed results for both parties in Ohio, as Lt. Gov. Mike DeWine has defeated Democrat Richard Cordray to take John Kasich’s place as governor, while Sen. Sherrod Brown has won reelection.

DeWine is a former U.S. Senator, who lost his reelection race in 2006 by double digits. However, he rebounded in the 2010 Attorney General race, easily defeating Cordray.

DeWine will replace Kasich who was term limited, and is a possible primary opponent against President Trump in 2020.

Brown is a leading Democratic voice on financial regulation and workers rights, was elected to a third term in Ohio, a crucial presidential battleground state that President Trump carried in 2016.

Many believe Brown would make a good presidential candidate for Democrats in 2020.
