In Arizona, Rep. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) has defeated Rep. Martha McSally (R-AZ) in the race for the U.S. Senate.
Sinema’s margin over McSally has expanded after votes were counted and released today by the Arizona Secretary of State.
The latest numbers show Sinema at 1,097,321 votes, McSally with 1,059,124, and the Green Party candidate Angela Green with 52,122.
The 38,197 vote edge amounts to an insurmountable lead, taking into consideration where the remaining votes are located, and the margin thus far.
Sinema will replace the retiring Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) in January.
McSally conceded the race via Twitter Monday night.

HISTORY:
Kyrsten Sinema is the first woman ever elected to the US senate from Arizona.
She is also the first Democrat to win a senate seat since Dennis DeConcini 30 years ago.
The win also means that the Democrats will hold a majority of Arizona’s entire federal delegation — 5 of 9 U.S. House seats and one of the pair of U.S. Senate seats.
While the Democrats held most of Arizona’s House seats just four years ago, the party has not held an edge in the entire combined delegation since 1967.
