There is one thing history will never take away from Donald Trump. He has, by far, the biggest ego of any president.

Trump claims in a new book that he is “far greater than Ronald Reagan” and says conservative columnists don’t get him enough credit for his accomplishments.

The New York billionaire and former reality TV host told the authors of “Trump’s Enemies” — his allies Corey Lewandowski and David Bossie — that he would be considered the greatest president in U.S. history if his name weren’t Trump.

“The amazing thing is that you have certain people who are conservative Republicans that if my name weren’t Trump, if it were John Smith, they would say I’m the greatest president in history and I blow Ronald Reagan away.”

Trump reportedly pointed to his judicial nominees, “environmental stuff” and his regulation cuts in making the claim.

“If you said that conservative president John Smith did that, they would say he’s the greatest president. Far greater than Ronald Reagan,” Trump is quoted saying.

It’s an interesting comparison considering Reagan inherited a bad economy, yet united the nation and built the Republican Party into a powerhouse that won 49 states in his reelection bid in 1984.

Trump inherited a growing economy, but has managed to further divide America. The latest Gallup poll shows 6-of-10 Americans disapprove of the job he is doing as president.

Reagan also prided himself with the ability to compromise, and had the respect of Democratic House Speaker Tip O’Neill.

With a self-deprecating humor and deep empathy in times of crisis, Reagan left office one oft the most beloved presidents in American history.

There is no indication that will be the case for Trump.
