It was pure holiday fun when former first lady Michelle Obama joined Jimmy Fallon in surprising fans who stopped on the wrong floor while riding an elevator at NBC.
The host explained that he and the former first lady would surprise people on tours of NBC Studios.
The tour guide would purposely bring the groups to the wrong floor, which is where the two would wait.
Each group got to see Obama and Fallon doing different, yet equally comical, activities.
The segment began as Fallon read Obama’s new book Becoming, while Obama read Fallon’s book Everything Is Mama.
As they praised each other’s books, the elevator door opened.
The tour members delightfully watched Obama and Fallon read and cheered before the door closed.
When another group arrived, Fallon approached the elevator and asked if they wanted to see a magic trick.
He lifted up a blanket and when he put it down, Obama appeared. The group cheered in excitement.
The next tour group was shocked to see Fallon and Obama performing “Jingle Bells” on a piano when the elevator door opened.
While initially silent, the group began to joyfully scream as the two turned to face the group and clapped along to the song.
Fallon later appeared next to a large gift. “Happy holidays,” he told the relatively calm group.
When he opened the human-size box, it revealed that Obama was inside and she struck a pose.
The host approached the next tour group by asking if he could get on the elevator.
“We’ll take the next one,” he said as he backed away from the door.
Obama appeared and said, “Wait, wait, wait.”
The elevator riders shouted in disbelief when they realized that they’d lost the chance to ride the elevator with her.
The next group was shocked when the elevator door opened to show Obama jumping rope.
“Hey, how you doing? Happy holidays,” said The Roots member Black Thought as he and Fallon swung the rope.
Obama and Fallon danced as they waited for the next group to arrive.
When the door opened and no one was inside, the host decided to get it.
“Why don’t we just take the stairs?” she asked. “Why are you such a wimp?”
