“Avengers” star Chris Evans is calling out Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) for his complete about-face on President Trump.

Now one of Trump’s staunchest allies, Graham was once one of his sharpest critics.

“You know how you make America great again? Tell Donald Trump to go to hell,” Graham told voters in December 2015.

He has also criticized Trump’s conduct towards the late-Senator John McCain, his response to alleged crimes committed by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and—most recently—his sudden decision to withdraw American troops from Syria.

Evans reminded Graham of those comments, accused him of doing a “shameful 180” and then wondered if the senator was somehow compromised:

The “Smithers” line refers to a character on “The Simpsons,” where Smithers is the toady to the show’s wealthy villain, Mr. Burns.

Social media was quick to back their favorite superhero:

Last month, Graham claimed—without providing any evidence or justification—that Trump’s proposed border wall would form part of America’s protection against “radical Islam,” describing it as the country’s “last line of defense” against global Islamic terrorism.

The attack by Evans, a frequent Trump critic who plays Captain America on the big screen, follows a similar statement made by MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle who implied on air, without evidence, that Graham’s change-of-heart is connected to an “extreme” secret over which he is being blackmailed.
