Fans of the hit Netflix series Lucifer like most, if not all, of the episodes, but some love more than others.

In our exclusive JimHeath.TV poll over 1,300 fans participated, and chose A Devil of My Word, the season finale of season three, as their favorite #1 episode of all time.

Shocked by someone’s death, Chloe, Lucifer and the rest of the team worked together to investigate and take down the killer.

Then, Lucifer had an epiphany, Maze decided to mend a broken friendship and Chloe finally witnessed the truth.

It’s an episode we’ll never forget.

“Lucifer” A Devil of My Word

“The moment we knew we had something special is when we shot the scene between Lucifer and Chloe in the driveway at 2Vile’s house when he tells her, ‘I’m the devil,'” said co-showrunner Ildy Modrovich. “He thinks he’s mojo-ing her, and she’s faking being sucked in. Len Wiseman and I looked at each other and we knew we were both thinking the same thing: We just struck gold. The repartee they had… the chemistry… the whole thing just sung in that moment.”

A Devil of My Word is also the top fan favorite on IMDb, rating a 9.8 rating out of 10.

Over 1,300 fans voted in our poll that ran for several weeks.

In the end, five episodes from Season 4 made the list, two from Season 1, one from Season 2, and two from season 3 (including the Best Episode of the series).

Here is a look at the results:

Here is the complete list of the TOP TEN episodes of Lucifer:

1. A Devil of My Word (Season 3)

“I think that’s the best episode of television I’ve ever made, just full stop,” co-showrunner Joe Henderson said. “I love it. I got to write a mixture of a play and an action movie. I thought the entire cast just brought it. The only regret I have about the episode is that DB and Tricia aren’t in it. But they did such incredible work they did in the previous episode that Ildy wrote – it was satisfying. And I guess, them not being in the finale also gave us room to dig deeper with our other characters: Ella and her fate, Dan and his breaking point, and of course Lucifer and Chloe.”

2. Save Lucifer (Season 4)

3. A Good Day to Die (Season 2)

4. A Priest Walks Into a Bar (Season 1)

This is Jim Heath’s personal favorite episode.

“I liked Lucifer from the first episode, but it took until the 9th episode before it completely became my favorite show,” said Heath. “The writing in that episode was so strong, and Tom Ellis revealed himself to be more than just a cheeky devil, he’s a really good actor. The whole concept of Lucifer screaming at his perfect father, God, asking “what will it take” to please him after a priest was murdered. Well, I was officially in the fandom at that point.”

Modrovich told ComicBook.com that she and Henderson had to fight with Fox to keep some of the scenes in the show.

“My favorite scene is where Lucifer sits at the piano with the priest and they play some blues together,” said Modrovich. “Again, in typical cop procedural manner, every scene has to drive that procedural story forward. That scene didn’t. It was actually flagged to be cut. Joe and I had to advocate for it as a character beat. We’re a cop procedural, but this is also a character show. We believed it could be better than just a cop procedural. And I feel like that piano scene turned out to be one of the iconic moments in the show.”

5. Who’s da New King Of Hell? (Season 4)

6. Somebody’s Been Reading Dante’s Inferno (Season 4)

7. Quintessential Deckerstar (Season 3)

“I do feel like these two last episodes played as sort of a two-parter,” said Modrovich. “This first part was really the Amenadiel-Charlotte episode. We knew we wanted to do a last farewell love letter to Trisha and give her something truly worthy of her talent. So that’s what the episode was about. We were saying goodbye to a character and an actress that we just love. It felt really emotional from the get-go. I mean, I remember at the read-through, we all cried because we were saying goodbye to Trisha too. Not that she’s dying, mind you, we’ll still see her! But she was leaving the show, and it was heart-wrenching. That death scene is probably the most emotional moment, emotional episode I’ve ever worked on of Lucifer. It has a special place in my heart for sure.”

“I had so much fun being a part of Charlotte’s story where she eventually finds redemption,” said Henderson. “Ildy wrote the episode where she died, and that just broke my heart. Breaking the story was heartbreaking, reading it was devastating, and then seeing Tricia and DB bring it to life… blew our minds. We all brough tissues to set that night.”

8. Expire Erect (Season 4)

9. Devil Is as Devil Does (Season 4)

10. Take Me Back to Hell (Season 1)

The results of the poll will be published in Jim Heath’s upcoming book Lucifer Rises.

“Other fansites and bloggers have tackled the Top Ten question, but there is little agreement beyond the top four or five episodes,” said Heath. “When the book is finished, I hope we have recommended ten episodes every Lucifan, and new fans, can love.”

Lucifer Rises is scheduled to be released on Amazon on Halloween, October 31.
