Vice President Mike Pence gave some advice today that led to a headline he probably wasn’t asking for.
According to the conservative Washington Times, Pence was holding a Q&A with the anti-gay group Alliance Defending Freedom when he began discussing the backlash over his wife working at a school that bans LGBTQ students and faculty.
Pence’s detractors needn’t worry about incurring his wrath over their reaction to his wife’s job, he said.
“Forgiveness is a great gift,” the vice president proclaimed.
But Pence’s “number one” piece of advice on dealing with criticism was this: “Spend more time on your knees than on the internet.”
You just can’t make this stuff up.
Some Twitter users were quick to spot the innuendo:
I’m confused, you don’t want us in your office, but you want us on our knees? https://t.co/SKQUbZrTw6

Based on the cabinet meeting tongue bath moments I’ve seen from @VP, he spends a lot of time on his knees with @realDonaldTrump.

I think a balanced diet includes both time on your knees and time on the internet Michael. https://t.co/3KolYiFrbN

Mike Pence Advises Antigay Group to 'Spend More Time on Your Knees'

Pence recounted the criticism of his wife Karen earlier this year when she returned to a part-time position reaching art at Immanuel Christian School, in Northern Virginia, which discourages gay teachers or students.
Her decision drew criticism from all around the country, and groups like the American Civil Liberties Union, which said it was “a terrible message.”
Pence said one television commentator said he should have expected the outrage over the decision.
“We honestly didn’t see that one coming,” he said.
He probably will be shocked by the get on your knees comment too.
