A new comprehensive list in TV Guide names Lucifer as one of the Top 100 TV Shows on air today.

While it would be the #1 show on any Lucifans list, the popular series featuring everyone’s favorite devil comes in at #79 on the magazine’s list.

TV Guide says: “With rewarding character growth and its pitch-perfect ability to laugh at its own ludicrous antics, Lucifer (starring the beguiling Tom Ellis) is a must-binge.”

Writer Krutika Mallikarjuna admits in her comprehensive review that at first, she wanted to heckle the series, “but Lucifer always got there first.”

“The cast and creators’ blissful self-awareness of how just extra the series is results in transcendently funny moments,” she wrote. “But the thing that makes this kitchen sink disguised as a TV show so addictive is that while it never takes itself too seriously, it always takes it characters seriously.”

Mallikarjuna notes what makes Tom Ellis brilliant in the lead role.

“One of the best creative choices the show ever made is that Lucifer never lies about his real identity,” she explained. “Despite his tales of God’s machinations, the rebellion in Silver City, and his experience ruling over a demon horde while doling out eternal punishment, no one in Lucifer’s life takes his stories about being the Devil seriously. Lucifer’s delusions are written off as just that, even by his therapist.”

She also notes the chemistry between Old Scratch and his police partner Chloe Decker (Lauren German).

“Lucifer’s tempting power — which often leads to case-cracking confessions from criminals — works on everyone except, of course, his gorgeous, straight-laced partner, who gained fame as a teenager for her starring role in the raunchy flick Hot Tub High School.”

The positive review also gives kudos to Lucifer’s former demon minion Maze (Lesley Ann-Brandt), his therapist, Linda (Rachael Harris), his brother Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside), and Detective Dan (Kevin Alejandro).

Lucifer has been in the Top 10 Most Binged Shows since Season 4 dropped on Netflix back in May.

It’s been unstoppable as the show shattered the top 10 record for the most number of consecutive weeks in the number one spot.

It took the record away from Game of Thrones.

Netflix has ordered 16 episodes for the final season, which will be released in 2020.

Fans have been wondering whether the final season will be released in two parts.

It’s a devilish possibility.

Fans of the hit show Arrested Development know too well what it’s like when Netflix splits one season into parts.

The first half of the fifth season of the show premiered on May 29, 2018, and the second half on March 15, 2019.

Almost a full year wait.

Netflix has also split up other popular shows like The Ranch, Fuller House, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt into half seasons.

It’s clear Netflix has an audience of binge-watchers, but it’s also found that viewers watch some shows in shorter spurts than some of its other programming.

Breaking seasons up may make the content a little easier for viewers to digest.

Most Lucifans seem willing to wait, hoping to extend the life of their favorite show as long as possible.
