Fans of Lucifer in the UK will have to wait awhile longer for their next big convention after the plug was pulled today on next months big event.
Starfury Conventions announced that due to the coronavirus, Lux 2 will not take place in April.
Here is the statement:
In light of the current Covid-19 epidemic, we have taken the decision to postpone LUX 2, which had been due to take place from 3-5 April, to a later date. While I appreciate that some will be disappointed, we feel that all attendees will be best served by us moving the dates.
We had been fully committed to running this event, and everything was all set for this convention to take place. However, we feel that the health and safety of the attendees, the guests and the staff should take priority.
We were incredibly disappointed by the recent decision of the UK government, but thankfully the Hilton Hotel has agreed with us, and is working with us on new dates. The Hilton is allowing anybody with a hotel booking to cancel with no penalty; we will update you in the next day or so whether the Hilton will need you to cancel your rooms yourself, or if they will automatically cancel them all.
We do not have new dates just yet. The Hilton is working to see what they can offer us, and we also have options with other venues. We are looking to move the event to June – August period.
We have been in communication with all of the guests, who are supporting this decision, and working with us on the new dates.
To confirm, LUX 2 has not been cancelled, but is moving dates because of the Covid-19 epidemic.
We will update all attendees as soon as the new dates are confirmed, and your tickets will automatically transfer over.
Thank you for your support in this matter, and I look forward to celebrating Lucifer with you all at LUX 2.
The event would have taken place in Birmingham at the Hilton Metropole Hotel at the beginning of April.
Tom Ellis was scheduled to attend, along with Aimee Garcia, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Kevin Alejandro, Inbar Lavi, and Graham McTavish.
This follows news that the “Straight Outta Hell” convention in Paris has been postponed indefinitely.
The announcement was made earlier this week by Empire Conventions.
Lucifer star Lesley-Ann Brandt was quick to commend the company for making the decision.
“I truly believe this is what will keep everyone safe,” she wrote on Twitter. “I can’t wait to see you. Until then, be safe. Paris, I will miss you this year.”
Last years convention took place over three days with guest talks, photoshoots, autographs, a cosplay competition, and parties every night.
JimHeath.TV will keep you posted on when the Lucifer events are rescheduled.
