Netflix has released its full schedule for June, and Lucifer is nowhere to be found.
How is that possible?
It’s been over a year since Season 4 dropped, and six months since the streaming service told us that the upcoming Season 5 would be split into two.
The speculation for months was that the first 8 episodes would be released in May or June, but then the pandemic hit.
After the production shutdown caused by COVID-19, co-showrunner Joe Henderson confirmed they had run into some production problems.
“There have been some post-production hiccups because of Covid, but we’re working through them pretty well,” Henderson wrote.
To all #Lucifans out there wondering when season 5 (part 1) drops — chances are, we’ll know when you do! There have been some post-production hiccups because of Covid, but we’re working through them pretty well. Hopefully we’ll all have an answer soon! π

What About Season 6?
Besides production issues for the final episodes of Season 5, there are still lingering questions about a potential Season 6.
And what happens there will no doubt determine how Season 5 ends – either with a grand conclusion, or a big cliffhanger.
Where does that stand?
Netflix is interested in additional seasons, but Tom Ellis, who had been busy lining up other work before Netflix changed its mind, is still unsigned for Season 6.
Until that has resolution, production cannot finish the final 8 episodes of Season 5.
And that is obviously causing the hesitation from Netflix executives about when to get the first eight episodes rolling.
There is some hopeful news, however, from co-showrunner Ildy Modrovich, who informed fans this morning that “the premiere date is coming SOON!!!!”
She emphasized, “like…. soon soon.”
I hope I donβt get in trouble saying… the premiere date is coming SOON!!! Like… soon soon. #Finally #luciferseason5date #Lucifer #LuciferSeason5 https://t.co/xoQZT4ahbF

Here’s hoping that means a July release date.
Lucifans have already waited too long!
Netflix is to blame by jumping the gun late May/early June 2019 saying season 5 was the end of Lucifer. Can’t blame Tom Ellis and the rest of the cast looking for other jobs. I really hope we get to see season 5 “soon” rather than 2021. Only reason I haven’t left Netflix already is I can still see Lucifer season’s 1 through 4 and season 5 is nearly complete filming wise. I would love to see a season 6 of Lucifer as long as the same regular cast is in it. I don’t expect the series to go on forever like Supernatural did.
