A Jimmy John’s restaurant in Georgia has reportedly fired at least two employees who staged a mock lynching in one of the stores.
Video of the incident, which was said to have occurred in Woodstock, Georgia over the Fourth of July holiday, was shared on social media.
In the video, one employee places a noose made of dough over another employee’s head.
Both employees are white.
According to CBS 46, multiple employees were fired over the incident.
Another report said that a manager was also terminated.
Race is not a new issue for the sandwich restaurant.
Papa John’s founder John Schnatter was forced out as chairman in 2018 because of racist comments.
Jimmy John Liautaud, another founder and former chairman, was also a liability for the company.
Actor Mark Hammill is among those who have called for a boycott of Jimmy John’s on Twitter after social media photos showed Liautaud posing with an elephant and a leopard he had killed on hunting trips.
Earlier this year, the US Food and Drug Administration issued a warning letter to Jimmy John’s, saying certain vegetables it served were implicated in five outbreaks of E. coli or salmonella in the past seven years.
The letter accused the chain of engaging in a pattern of receiving and selling “adulterated fresh produce, specifically clover sprouts and cucumbers.”
“Jimmy John’s restaurants have been implicated in multiple outbreaks that have spanned the past seven years and impacted consumers in no fewer than 17 states,” FDA Deputy Commissioner Frank Yiannas said in a news release.
“Jimmy John’s has not demonstrated implementation of long-term sustainable corrections to its supply chain to assure the safety of ingredients used in its products,” he said.
Jimmy John’s has more than 2,800 locations in 43 states.
Oh the shame of it all. These three YOUNG men must never be able to hold a job for the rest of their lives. This should ruin their chances of a high school education and beyond. Such an unforgivable act. Let’s make sure they are fired. We take great pleasure in ruining young people’s lives. After all, there is no such thing as forgiveness where BLM is concerned. My God, what has happened to us?
