When Lucifer returns for the second half of its fifth season, a new face will join the series with Hart of Dixie alum Scott Porter set to join the cast in a mysterious role.

Donning a Lucifer ballcap with a big smile, Porter broke the news to his followers on Twitter.

“Why am I wearing a Lucifer hat, grinnin like a fool, Lucifans?” Porter wrote in a tweet, ” I am joining @lucifernetflix for Season 5 & 6!”

In addition to announcing his casting in the popular Netflix series, Porter announced Tom Ellis would be auctioning off a Zoom call to help raise money for Huntington’s Disease.

Scott’s wife Kelsey was diagnosed with Huntington’s disease in 2014, after learning that her mother Diane also had a genetic disorder.

“We are determined to bring awareness to this disease and offer support to anyone who is affected by Huntington’s,” the couple said after being honored at the Freeze HD event, which raises money and awareness for the fight against Huntington’s disease. “We are incredibly grateful to accept this honor from Freeze HD and cannot thank our friends and family enough for lending their voices and their support to this important and personal cause.”

The fact Ellis is helping out such an important cause doesn’t surprise lucifans.

Ellis, as we’ve reported often, has been involved in many charities throughout his public career.

We haven’t confirmed who Scott Porter is playing; but the fact that he’ll appear in both Lucifer season 5B and season 6 does seem to allude to him playing a significant role in the show’s final episodes.

While there are many figures who Porter could play, there is one that stands out in particular: Castiel.

From the moment Remiel first dropped the character’s name back in season 4 in conversation with Amenadiel, fans have been wondering whether Lucifer might eventually introduce the character.

Castiel is a favorite character on Supernatural.

Castiel is one of three of Lucifer’s siblings to have only ever been mentioned and never seen — the others being Gabriel and Raphael.

With the show coming to an end, Castiel could definitely add some spice to the final episodes.

While a huge hit in Supernatural, little is known about the Castiel of Lucifer‘s world, we do know that he loves to sing and does it frequently in the Silver City.

Porter definitely can carry a tune which would make him a natural fit to play an angel with a passion for breaking out into song.

Could Castiel even prove to be behind the musical numbers that will unfold in the show’s upcoming musical episode?

And what about Gabriel, the herald of the mysteries of God?

He might be a good son for God to have around while confronting the rest of the family.

The second half of Season 5 is expected to be released on Netflix sometime early next year.
