The Fraternal Order of Police has unanimously voted to endorse Donald Trump for reelection.

National President Patrick Yoes shared the announcement on Friday.

“Look at what the national discourse has focused on for the last six months. President Trump has shown time after time that he supports our law enforcement officers and understands the issues our members face every day,” said Yoes. “The FOP is proud to endorse a candidate who calls for law and order across our nation. He has the full and enthusiastic support of the FOP.”

He said the FOP considered both 2020 presidential candidates’ records along with responses they received from the campaigns in their questionnaire.

That information was then shared with the more than 355,000 members of the FOP.

The union, which has over 355,000 members, endorsed Trump in 2016 and claimed former Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton snubbed them by not seeking their endorsement.

In 2012, the group didn’t endorsement a candidate for president and in 2008, 2004, and 2000 it backed the Republican nominees — the late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and President George W. Bush.

In 1996, it endorsed President Clinton.

The country’s largest municipal police union, the Police Benevolent Association of the City of New York, has also endorsed Trump.

In recent weeks, Trump has repeatedly and falsely asserted that his oppnent Jo Biden supports defunding the police.

His campaign has aired advertising in battleground states showing a woman calling police for help as an intruder breaks into her home and getting a voice recording informing her that, because the police have been defunded, no one is available to take her call.

Trump has also tweeted warnings to “Suburban Housewives” that Biden will shatter their communities by requiring communities to build lower-income housing as part of new development.

Trump recently revoked an Obama-era housing regulation designed to eliminate racial disparities in the suburbs.

The International Association of Fire Fighters endorsed Biden for president in April.

The head of the union said that the labor group backed Biden because he has a “proven track record” of representing union members and working families.

“He has a track record of delivering, and we’re a group that measures it pretty straightforward,” said Harold Schaitberger. “Joe Biden has had the backs and stood with firefighters across this nation throughout his Senate career, and certainly as vice president of the United States, and so we’re now prepared to stand with him,” Schaitberger said.

He added that Biden has long supported a number of worker-related issues, including fair wages, retirement security and protecting union rights.
