In a series of tweets this morning, well known evangelist Beth Moore unleashed on Donald Trump and questioned how other religious leaders could back him.
Moore, the founder of Living Proof Ministries in Houston and the most famous woman in Southern Baptist life today, called support for Trump ‘seductive and dangerous’ and encouraged his supporters to ‘move back from it.’
‘I do not believe these are days for mincing words,’ she wrote. ‘I’m 63 1/2 years old & I have never seen anything in these United States of America I found more astonishingly seductive & dangerous to the saints of God than Trumpism. This Christian nationalism is not of God. Move back from it.’

Trump and his allies have repeatedly laundered baseless claims of mass voter fraud in a series of legal challenges in state and federal courts.
Those efforts are failing one by one, and the Supreme Court and Trump’s own attorney general have dismissed the prospect of widespread irregularities.
But that hasn’t stopped Trump’s supporters from continuing to damage the Republic.
In two follow up messages, Moore warned: ‘Fellow leaders, we will be held responsible for remaining passive in this day of seduction to save our own skin while the saints we’ve been entrusted to serve are being seduced, manipulated, USED and stirred up into a lather of zeal devoid of the Holy Spirit for political gain.’
She then concluded: ‘And, God help us, we don’t turn from Trumpism to Bidenism. We do not worship flesh and blood. We do not place our faith in mortals. We are the church of the living God. We can’t sanctify idolatry by labeling a leader our Cyrus. We need no Cyrus. We have a king. His name is Jesus.’

Exit polls from the election showed about 80% of white evangelical Christians supported Trump in spite of his unfamiliarity with the Bible, his divorces, his vulgar rhetoric and his association with porn stars.
“We essentially have White evangelicals, somewhere around 8 in 10, supporting the president, standing by their candidate, standing by their man,” says Robert Jones, CEO of the Public Religion Research Institute.
I almost turned my back on my faith because of the abhorrent behavior of my “Christian” friends. Beth Moore give me hope in my God. Thank you, Beth
I can’t agree with you more and I pray more leaders will follow your example. I learned about you watching MSNBC this morning and applaud your efforts to warn people about the danger of Trumpism. And yes, we don’t need Bidenism either. That said, we must as citizens and Christians believe in our leaders. Just as you want your listeners and followers to believe and have faith in you, the same is true for the president of our nation. As a practicing Catholic, I have yet to hear my church leaders speak out as you have. Thank you for your voice and courage.
I am so thankful for this statement from Beth Moore, whom I highly respect. I have been appalled by the following of Trump by so many of my Christian friends.
I was glad and surprised to see this, White evangelicalism has DEGENERATED into a trump CULT. Fortunately, about 20% (a more recent number is 28%) of white evangelicals NEVER DID/STILL DON’T/NEVER WILL support trump because they saw early on what a morally bankrupt degenerate trump was. It is past time for a New Evangelical Movement that is JESUS-focused to emerge–something akin to the Protestant Reformation coming out of the corrupt Catholic church. I am glad Christian leaders (conservative, right wing, “whatever”) are waking up and taking out against trumpism and warning other Christian leaders and the flocks they lead. Someone needs to take Franklin Graham especially and sit him down and tell him the score. Thank you!
Most Christians I know voted for Trump not because of the man Trump, but because they want to save babies from abortion, especially LATE term abortion. Many people didn’t vote for issues because they didn’t want to vote for Trump. ……so we have Biden and abortions!! Is that better?????
Many Christians voted for Biden because the defense of our Republic is more important than any single issue.
Beth Moore is the very few voices of reason in the Christian world. My Christian faith is the most important influence in my life – and Beth’s studies and books have been a huge part of my personal growth for the past fifteen years. I am so grateful to Beth for speaking out. I know her honestly comes at a great personal and professional cost. One of the most important lessons I have taken away from Beth’s studies and books is her insistence that we, as Chrisitian women, be authentic and true to the teachings of the Bible. Thank you, Beth for living out the example of this in your own life, by speaking out against; the false words and teachings of the majority of current evangelical leaders.
has she been hiding under a basket for the last 4 years? LOL
Biden is a Catholic,. Catholics are against abortion. It is really astonishing that all trump had to “say” was he was against abortion. Clearly his behavior demonstrates that he does not REALLY care one way or the other. He only says what he thinks will sway people. He is accused of rape, has cheated on his wives, evades paying taxes, engages in foreign deals with enemies of the US, etc., so why wouldn’t it be plausible that he has even had someone have an abortion???? A tree is recognizable by the fruit it bears not what it looks like. An apple tree does not bear oranges!!!!
I respectfully strongly disagree with your warnings against the support of President Trump. You say Biden is a Catholic and therefore pro life. NEITHER HE NOR HARRIS ARE PRO LIFE AND THE LATER SUPPORTS LATE TERM ABORTIONS. They also are anti-Israel which is a very dangerous position for our nation to be aligned with. I find it shocking for you, an evangelist, familiar with the life-changing experience of God’ redemptive powers to change a person to blatantly throw the President’s sins up in judgement. Are you familiar with Harris’ sins or Biden’s which are quite public and yet turn a blind eye to their plans for our nation?? Please be cautious when you declare Christians who have Biblical support in standing against the Biden possibility of taking the highest office in our land.
Joe Biden in the president-elect and will be sworn-in on January 20. He does not support late term abortions. You condemn Biden while arguing that no one should point out Donald Trump’s many, many moral flaws. A bit of hypocrisy in your argument. As for Israel, there has been no bigger supporter in the U.S. Senate for many years than Joe Biden.
We need to remember who God used in scripture. The men and women were never qualified. God qualified all who were called. Not by the people. Also as it is today none of us are worthy to clean our savior’s feet. And I do not believe Jesus would be okay with how we are so willing to jump on a bandwagon and call things as they are not. There are so many things going on with the government that we can not move without our path before us needing to be clearly seen. I do not agree with any of our fellow Christ followers choosing a side at this particular time. We are to pray. Pray and our God will hear our prayers. The body of Christ is the backbone of America, we are not to take sides!! We are to choose Christ above all. This article does not reflect that. Follow Christ, Not Biden, Not Trump. Where are we church? Caught up with all the chaos and opinions of others? I choose Christ!! I choose Christ. Where are the followers of Jesus? This doesnt sound like we are together on this. Stop pointing fingers and flowing with he does this and he said that… We are to be concerned with what our God is saying right now!! Not the popular person of the minute. Matthew 7:5 remove the beam out of your eye and then you can clearly see to remove the speck out of yours. NONE of us are without sin, cast the first stone. We can not.
