Dennis Hof, the famed owner of The Bunny Ranch brothel, and a GOP legislative candidate in Nevada, has died after attending a campaign event.

Hof died today at the age of 72 his campaign manager revealed, just a few weeks before he was set to compete in the general election for a seat in the House of Representatives and hours after a campaign rally that featured former Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio and porn star Ron Jeremy.

He was at the Love Ranch South in Crystal at the time of his death. His campaign manager said that Hof appeared fine last night at the campaign event.

“Ron Jeremy went to wake up Dennis about 11am this morning and found him dead in his bed. He must have died in his sleep,” said Chuck Muth, Hof’s campaign manager.

Muth had shared a number of photos on Twitter of the guests at Hof’s event, which included pardoned Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio and conservative adviser Grover Norquist.

Hof began building his empire in 1992 with the Moonlite Bunny Ranch, and at the time of death owned seven legal brothels in the state of Nevada.

He got a huge boost in 2002 when HBO began airing the docuseries Cathouse, which filmed at his brothels.

That ran for 12 years, with two extended specials in 2005 and 2007. Hof also released a book in 2015, The Art of the Pimp.

The Republican candidate, who nicknamed himself “the Trump from Pahrump,” developed political aspirations after Trump’s election in 2016.

“It’s all because Donald Trump was the Christopher Columbus for me,” said Hof after his primary victory in June. “He found the way and I jumped on it.”

Hof found himself a fixture in the news cycle back in 2015 when Lamar Odom overdosed at one of his facilities.

Odom spend $79,000 during a four-day bender back in 2015 with two women.

Hof said at the time that he planned to sue Khloe Kardashian if any problems arose about with the payment of the basketball player’s bill – while he was still in a coma.

He was also facing an allegation of rape and being investigated for human trafficking at the time of his death.

His longtime partner Heidi Fleiss said she was with Hof and Jeremy as the group “drove from Reno to Pahrump on Monday,” saying the three had a “good time.”

“On the way down on the drive on the 8-hour drive, Dennis was joking about Ron’s health and how he needed to take better care of himself. We were all making fun of Ron and just generally life,” said Fleiss. “His diet was so unhealthy, I told him months ago to start eating healthy. Dennis was really excited about the future. I’m devastated about his death I’m still in shock over it.”
