Retired actor James Woods has been locked out of his Twitter account for participating in a hoax campaign.
Woods was suspended for a July tweet of a satirical meme that encouraged men not to vote in this November’s midterm elections.
The meme came from a hoax campaign with hashtags like #LetWomenDecide and #NoMenMidterms, with Woods admitting in his tweet that the campaign was likely not real.

According to the AP, Woods received an email from Twitter on Thursday stating that the tweet in question “has the potential to be misleading in a way that could impact an election.”
The company reportedly added in the email that Woods would be able to use his account again so long as he deletes the tweet.
Woods, whose account has over 1.7 million followers, told AP he will not be removing the tweet.
The actor, who rants daily like a bitter and angry old man, has been an outspoken critic of Democrats and a vocal backer of President Trump.
On July 4, his longtime agent, Ken Kaplan, told him that he would no longer represent him.
Conservatives quickly decried Twitter’s disciplinary moves against Woods and attacked the social media giant for what they called an attempt to silence non-liberal voices.
Last July, Woods took to Twitter to urge his fans who said they have been “shadow banned” to sell off any stock they had in the company as punishment.
He said after the 2016 election that he would be quitting Twitter because of censorship, but changed his mind.
