Another requires women to undergo an ultrasound and listen to the fetal heartbeat before an abortion. Kasich’s anti-abortion position even extends to the controversial “Heartbeat bill”, which he has called “reasonable” even though Ohio Right to Life—the official anti-abortion organization in the state—didn’t endorse it, worried about its constitutionality. An attempt by Kasich and his Republican allies at the statehouse to squeeze all abortion clinics in Ohio out of existence is working at a record pace, the number falling by half, from sixteen to eight, since 2011.
