Dina Lohan, Lindsay Lohan’s 56-year old mom, is bankrupt and could take CBS up on its offer of a major paycheck to star in the second season of “Celebrity Big Brother.”
Sources close to the negotiations tell The Blast that Lohan was contacted by producers of the show which premieres on January 21.
Producers made it clear they want Lohan in the cast, writing, “CBS is bringing back the hugely successful show for another season and we’d love to invite Dina Lohan to be a part of our season 2 cast.”
The offer claims “Participants will receive a $100,000 guarantee,” and that “every time they survive one of the eight evictions, they will earn another $5,000.”
The winner of the entire competition earns $250,000 and a favorite house guest, chosen by the viewers at the end of the season, scores an extra $25,000.
That should be music to the ears of Dina Lohan who filed for bankruptcy last September.
She filed at the Eastern District of New York under Chapter 13, which is a “voluntary repayment plan for individuals with regular income.”
Lohan is more than $1,700,000 in debt.
She says that she owes $1,554,240 to Pennymac Loan Services for the mortgage on her home in N. Merrick, New York; $4,651 to California in taxes; $9,139 to New York in taxes and $10,019 to Thrift Investment Corp. for her Honda car.
Other claims include $45,051.74 owed to the IRS and $10,483 to St. Anthony S. High School.
It’s unclear if Lohan has made a final decision yet on whether she’ll allow herself to be locked in the famous “Big Brother” house.
Pre-production on the show starts soon, on Sunday, January 13.
If Lohan ends up participating, and is eliminated before the end, she’ll be allowed to go home but must return for the February finale.
Also, there will be no TV or phones allowed in the house, so she won’t be able to keep up on the premiere of Lindsay’s MTV reality show.
Another interesting note about the offer to Lohan, it mentions the fact that “Julie Chen” is hosting … but does not use the sign-off the host was using during the recent controversy with her husband, Les Moonves.
Moonves lost his $120 million severance after CBS concluded after a months-long investigation in December that there was merit to numerous claims that its former CEO sexually harassed several women over the course of decades.
Besides Lohan, there have been rumors that controversial Olympian Tonya Harding could be in the cast.
The two-time Olympian makes a lot of sense for the show.
She made it to the “Dancing with the Stars: Athletes” finale earlier this year, and always generates her share of controversy.
Filmmaker and actor Mike White, who wrote and starred in movies and TV shows like Chuck & Buck, School of Rock, and Enlightened, could be the first person to complete the CBS reality TV trifecta.
White made it the finale of Survivor: David vs Goliath.
With his father Mel at his side, Mike also appeared in two separate seasons of The Amazing Race, the second of which was an all-star season filled with fan favorites.
The first season of the show was won by Hairspray star Marissa Jaret Winokur as she beat out TV host Ross Mathews to take home the $250,000 prize.
New episodes of “Celebrity Big Brother” will air every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
Chen Moonves returns as host for what could be her last appearance on CBS.
She resigned as co-host of The Talk back in September.
She remains employed at CBS, and will host the celebrity edition, although Big Brother hasn’t been renewed officially by CBS for a 21st season.
