Thousands of Lucifer fans have signed a petition pleading with Netflix to give the popular show a sixth season, but the shows top boss is making it clear it will all end with season five.
The petition seemed to pick up momentum earlier this week when Lucifer star Lauren German signaled to fans that they should push Netflix for additional seasons.
At first, she seemed content that season 5 would be it.
“I can’t even believe how much I’ve seen from you all that you want a season 6 and more,” German wrote. “As is, we are only doing a S5, however I have to thank you for all the love, interest and encouragement.”
But an hour later, German seemingly endorsed the petition drive, encouraging fans to sign it.
“If you want a season 6 or more let it be heard,” German tweeted. “We love that you love Lucifer your support on social media is cherished and important.”
She continued, “if you want more let everyone know.”
Thanks in large part to German’s tweet, the petition has surpassed the 35K mark.

German’s endorsement of the petition drive seemed in contrast to Lucifer himself, Tom Ellis, who wrote on Instagram earlier in the week that season 5 would be it.
“I have had the most amazing ride making life long friends and playing a character that I truly love,” wrote Ellis. “It has been an utter privilege.”
“Here’s to a rocking season 5 and going out on a high,” Ellis concluded.
On Twitter, Ellis also added, “…all good things must come to an end…always leave them wanting more!”
It’s beautifully overwhelming to know how much love there is for #lucifer out there…thank you to everyone for your congratulations on the announcement of our final season. It’s bittersweet for us too but all good things must come to an end…always leave them wanting more! ❤️?

Watching the petition gain popularity, Lucifer Executive Producer Joe Henderson, the top boss, weighed in making it very clear that S5 will be it.
Replying to fans, Henderson wrote: “Nothing has changed! We are wrapping up all our stories in season 5, our final season.”
In another tweet, he added, “Honestly, we’re telling our ending with season 5. We love all the support, but right now, I’d say time is better spent getting ready for a fitting ending to our characters’ journeys.”
Unable to slow down the petition drive, Henderson was again asked by @lucifansgroup1 to clarify whether season five “is the end, and we shouldn’t tweet for S6?”
Henderson responded, “Season 5 is the end.”
To recap:
- The Executive Producer of Lucifer, Joe Henderson, says the story line for the show is being “wrapped up” in season 5, and there will be no season 6.
- Tom Ellis has talked about season 5 “going out on a high.”
- Lauren German has encouraged fans to sign the petition and has not backed off that request.
- Lucifans are split on social media, with many pushing Netflix to consider more seasons, while others urge respect for Henderson’s decision.
Ending Lucifer at the end of season 5 appears to have split the cast of show and the its huge fandom.
Lucifans continue to sign the petition, now over 35K.
As for Ellis, the timing of ending the show could work out perfectly for his career.
Eon Productions is looking for a new James Bond as Daniel Craig, who has elevated Bond’s moodiness to new heights, is finally retiring from the iconic role.
[From Lucifer To Bond: Tom Ellis Ready For Iconic Role]
Ellis has played the devil with charm and anger and wit for four seasons, so the transition to Bond, with all his action-packed moodiness, should be simple.
His role as the snarky and devilish Lucifer has actually just been a extra long audition for one of the premiere jobs in Hollywood.
And he’s already signaled he’d take the role:
It could be just a matter of time until Ellis goes from playing the devil to uttering the iconic phrase: Bond, James Bond.
James Bond would be the perfect role for him.
I’M not particularly a “Bond Fan”but if Tom Ellis becomes the new James BOND that could change.Give the devil his due?
As much as I love the show Lucifer. I am grateful that we got a season 4 and now a season 5. At least we will get a full story and it will end perfectly. I also agree that Tom Ellis would be perfect as well as James Bond.
Tom Ellis would make a great 007!
But hate to lose Lucifer Morningstar!
I think Lucifer is incredibly well written & Tom’s portrayal of The Devil is ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY AWESOME! But as much as I love him, I don’t think Anyone can fill Sean Connery shoes as 007…I’d much prefer More, More, More
Lucifer!!!!!
It’s because Tom Ellis has gotten Married. He screwed everything up.
He’s been dating Moppy since 2015. His marriage has nothing to do with this. He’s a professional. He knows how to balance personal life with work.
Such a great show 2 years ago I had my carple tunnel surgery done and I watched 3 seasons in one month just couldn’t stop watching had to see what happens next. Can’t wait to see the crew in other films that they make!love ya lots.
Please do not end the show. I love all the characters and the unique story. It deserves many more seasons.
I really, REALLY don’t want to see the end of Lucifer. If Tom wants to be Bond during a hiatus or something, I’m all for it, and would definitely watch it, but I can’t stand to think of the end of Lucifer. ???
My granddaughter and I love Lucifer, and we wish there would be a saaon6 also. He’s a great actor and I believe he would do damn good as 007 Bond’s the name, love that accent, Sean Connery is the best I seen so far so he would really have to do the job damn good
The cast and writing for Lucifer will go down as one of the greatest of all time. A tremendous thank you to Netflix for season 4 and now 5. The “team” took the most contrversial topic on the planet, religion, arguably the most hated character of all times, satan, and each week they gave us a story of mystery, adventure, faith, love, compassion, friendship, lughter, and above all else, the greatest story of redemption, and second chances, and person accountability, EVER told. This cast, writers and crew did the impossible. It was if they went into a room and a bunch of Hollywood execs have them an impossible task as a joke, and they all pulled it off. The tragedy isnt this show coming to a conclusion… the greatest tragedy is they arent receiving the accolades they all deserve for one of the greatest entertainment accomplishments of all time.
Great comment and post. Agree completely!
I really enjoyed Lucifer and I’m glad Netflix picked it up for a 5th season . It would be awesome for it to continue ,but I think the ending in season 5 was the only possible ending to the series. Anything else would not feel “real”. It was a job well done by all the actors, producers and directors… thank you for a very enjoyable time!
i have been addicted since the first episode. Lucifer is so unique so fun and the characters are just amazing. love Maze she is so cool. want to see more Trixie too such a cute. its one show i can watch and just forget everything else in the world for an hour. please continue, you have a unique show and cast. please
I dont understand why Netflix wants to end Lucifer. They DO NOT have good original shows. I have tried watching their shows and they suck. I have Netflix because of Lucifer and Lucifer only
