As Netflix begins production on the final season of Lucifer this fall, many are looking ahead to 2020 and wondering openly whether a major motion picture should be in the works.

If ever there was a cast with an already made fan base solidly established, this is it.

A new Facebook page promoting the Lucifer Movie already has over 1,200 backers signed up.

Let’s consider reality:

DC movies have struggled against their Marvel counterparts.

The recent Superman and Batman films have been, let’s just say it: Bad.

By Christmas 2020, after what is expected to be a brutal election year, movie fans in the US and around the world will be ready for a devil of a good time.

A witty and action packed two hour romp could fill the void.

DC could make Lucifer their new big screen franchise!

Lucifer is based on a DC comic book.

With an expected exciting finish for Season Five, Lucifer will have left broadcast TV and Netflix.

What then?

Some have speculated that Lucifer himself, Tom Ellis, will be the official James Bond following Daniel Craig’s retirement.

British star Lashana Lynch has been given Bond’s license to kill in the 25th movie in the franchise.

But while she is 007 in Craig’s final movie, she is not James Bond.

The decision on what to do with Bond, and who will play him, remains up in the air.

Tom’s movie career has already been preordained by God (or dad if we want to stay in character).

So, before that happens, why not take one of the most successful modern TV franchises and give it a film run?

Ellis, himself, has already suggested we’re at a good starting point for a movie:

“I think we leave it in a place where, hopefully, people will be going, ‘You can’t leave it there!’ Which is always, you know, the key,” said Ellis last week.

DC and Warner Brothers need only look at the incredible fan response in the hours following Lucifer’s cancellation on Fox to its resurrection on Netflix for proof.

And think of all the new fans a big screen version would attract?

Each one of the series stars deserve some big screen love: Ellis as Lucifer Morningstar, Lauren German as Chloe Decker, Kevin Alejandro as Dan Espinoza, Aimee Garcia as Ella Lopez, D.B. Woodside as Amenadiel, Lesley-Ann Brandt as Mazikeen, and Rachael Harris as Linda Martin.
